CAMILA OZORES SILVA
When my parents were trying to decide what to name their first and only daughter, they went back and forth a lot. They knew without a doubt that they would not give me a middle name, because the name they chose for me would be the only acceptable thing to call me. They thought of names like Olivia and Lola and finally settled on Camila.
I am named after the protagonist of a 1800s Argentine love story, Camila O'Gorman. In this tale, Camila defies her wealthy and politically-connected family by publicly criticizing the dictator of that time. She then falls deeply in love with a Jesuit Priest who is forbidden to marry. Throughout their story, they are pressured by both the church and the state, and must decide to flee or to stand their moral ground.
Camila strongly followed her heart and was with the person she loved. My parents named me Camila so I would always rememeber to stay true to who I am.
So who am I?
I am a social justice warrior and activist. I am a college senior and soon to be masters student. I am a proud Latina womxn. I am a loud, chaotic, compassionate force to be reckoned with.
Welcome to my (very) open book.
CAMILA'S CORNER
Welcome to my pensamientos (thoughts) !
I hope you enjoy the messy ramblings that come out of my brain. This blog will serve as a place for much needed reflection and processing as I move through an important transition in my life.
Let's learn from each other.
